Dear all,
Today is Green Day at St Michael’s . This is the day that we have chosen to collect money from the NSPCC. The children all look brilliant in their green to celebrate this charity set up specifically for the care of children. We have collected £427.30 which is an amazing amount so thank you very much
Tuesday 11th February was Safer Internet Day with the theme: “ together for a safer internet”, the children learnt about how to keep themselves safe when on line, on social networking sites or even when they are on their tablets and iPads when an unexpected icon comes on the screen. Of course this is fine when at school but as parents and carers we have to support our children to keep them safe at home as well. We wouldn’t allow our children to talk to strangers on the street or look at inappropriate images in books or sit up late into the early hours with the TV on in the living room. Therefore we have to be vigilant in regard to who our children are communicating with on line, what images, apps, games they are playing and how long they spend on the screen per day. Do we remove their phones and electronic devices from their bedrooms at night to ensure that they get enough sleep to keep them healthy? These are all now parts of parenting in the modern age and it certainly has its challenges!! If there is any way the school can support with this please do not hesitate to come into school and seek advice from any member of staff or Mrs Fredericks our Home School Support Worker.
Today we have sent out our first Online Safety newsletter for parents and carers to read to support and inform regarding keeping our children safe when using electronic devices. Please do have a read and keep for future reference.
Half Term next week, please have a good one and keep safe. We will see all children back in school on Monday 24th February
