14th July 2017 Newsletter -
Hello All,
This will the last newsletter of the academic year. We have had a great year at St Michael’s with much achieved– awards such as the KM Literacy Award and the Platinum Walk to School Award, in the top half of the table for the Medway Mini Youth Games, media coverage for our many and varied themed weeks and the first year of our newly created Parents Forums. Our children have experienced many and varied learning opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. The children of St Michael’s are so proud of their school and are great ambassadors when outside in the public wearing our uniform. Those children who have completed national assessments have done equally as well as last year, in fact we have a 20% improvement in our Key stage 2 results which places us back above national again after the dip in 2016. Our progress measure is good also. Some of the children have achieved some great individual scores. I am very proud of the children at St Michaels.
I am also very honoured to work along side such a great team of teachers and support staff who are truly dedicated to their jobs. We say farewell this year to Mrs Vassan and Mrs Kapragkou who leave us for pastures new. We have already been joined by Miss Deadman and Miss Leybourne who will be teaching in Y1 and Y4 respectively. The children will all meet their new teachers next week during our transitions sessions.
The reports have been sent home today, please do enjoy reading about your child’s achievements and take note of their targets for improvement. There will be a “drop in” session for all parents to discuss the reports if they would like to do so on Monday 17th July straight after school.
Next Thursday we will be saying a sad farewell to our Y6 children, we wish them well.
Please have a great summer and we will see everyone again on Tuesday 5th September.
Kathy Sexton
