18th January 2019 Newsletter
We are well and truly back into the swing of the new term. Our first open mornings for parents begin next week with Year 6 on Monday 21st Jan, YR on Tuesday 22nd Jan, Y4 on Wednesday 23rd January and Y5 on Thursday 24th January. The theme is “Come and see us …write!” please do try and attend these as they are a great opportunity for you to see how your child learns and to help at home.
We had a lovely party and certificate distribution for the children who completed the Christmas Reading Cracker, well done to those children and to Miss Smart who organised the event.
Some children in years 5 and 6 took part in a Greenacre Sports Partnership event involving sports hall athletics. We came 3rd in our afternoon sessions and 8th overall in a competition that involved over 30 schools. Well done to them– these children will also receive a certificate.
We had 5 children in Y5 and Y6 take part in a lovely art workshop facilitated by St Thomas More School involving 2 other schools in our partnership as well as St Michael’s– their art will be finished next week, framed and hopefully exhibited publicly– we also have some children taking part in a writing competition culminating in a drama performance later this month at the Brook Theatre facilitated by Oaklands School– so lots of enrichment happening this week!!
We also had reasons to be cheerful on Monday when we received a letter from Tracy Crouch our MP congratulating us for our performance in our Key stage 2 SATS. Its nice when our hard work is recognised by such important people.
Colder weather is forecast so please ensure all children come to school wrapped up– any school closures will be alerted to parents through Parentpay and the school website.
