20th October 2017 Newsletter

Dear All,

Gosh where has the time gone? I can hardly believe that we are now at half term, but then again we have been so busy and much has been achieved! This week we have completed our Harvest festival both with donations to “Caring Hands” and our “Brighten Up” day for CAFOD yesterday. We have had a great “Black History Month” with some of our parents volunteering their talents to share their culture with us all– the cooking was my particular favourite. Thanks to the lovely mums for their help. We had our first school trip this week with Y2 going to the Zoo at Port Lymphe to support their class learning. Behaviour as always was excellent!

We have been working really hard on our learning environment which is beginning to really take shape – we have hung our “cultural umbrellas” in the hall reflecting the many cultures in our school! Today we have just finished our magnificent 3D models of our favourite book characters– look out for them around the school!

The children have all been told about the new entrepreneurial activities that we want to introduce with each class fund raising for a trip or experience of their choice. The children will be coming up with their own activities to raise the funds themselves. This is really exciting and I am looking forward to all these great ideas unfolding as the year progresses.

We have started our first Open Mornings for each year group– these will continue next term, please do come along and take this opportunity to share in your child’s learning at first hand in the classroom. Check out the times and days on the dates section on the second page of the newsletter

And finally…

I am eternally grateful to all the wonderful staff here at St Michael’s who have worked tirelessly to make the children’s experiences as memorable and exciting as possible. We all deserve a break so have a great one and see you on Monday 30th October!

Mrs Kathy Sexton
